OK, I know I’m going to get a lot of blowback with this, but there is a story with my mom behind this song, and it’s made it a special one for me. In addition, joke as you might, the production is pretty good and the emotion being conveyed is rich. I like it, it’s impacted my life, so at #8 it’s How Am I Supposed to Live Without You by Michael Bolton.

Talk about a song that has never lost steam, and has always been a party hit whenever someone put it on! This song is still played massively today, whatever the occasion – wedding, sporting event, you name it. Enough said, at #8 it’s We Are Family by Sister Sledge.

Top 1979 Songs – #9: Shake Your Body

Continuing on with the Jacksons spirit, this song didn’t really come into play in my life until later but it is one of my favorite funk jams from this time. This song is basically one chord progression but this great dance song starts and it doesn’t stop. Coming in at #9 it’s Shake Your Body by The Jacksons.

Top 1989 Songs – #10: And So It Goes

Cracking the top 10 is a song that not many people know, but it is one of my favorite Billy Joel songs of all time. It’s a haunting song and one I loved to play on the piano. I guess I’m just surprised that it isn’t as recognized as We Didn’t Start the Fire and I Go To Extremes. Grabbing the #10 spot is And So It Goes by Billy Joel.

In all the bands that I’ve been in lately, whenever the drummer played that signature intro you knew you were going right into this song. I know all the talk lately hasn’t been positive about MJ but he did have some great songs, and this one is no exception. Breaking into the top 10 at #10 is Rock With You by Michael Jackson.
